Would You Rather
Part of Deeper Joy
Takeaways may include: naming preferences and opinions, learning about opposing preferences and opinions from others, exploring differences.
Parameters: more than two people, in person or virtually. Review the covenant. Many would you rather questions can lead to deep talks.
Materials: Notecards with either or questions. You can search “would you rather questions” or make up own.
The depth of conversation your group is ready for will determine what kinds of questions you ask. “Would you rather only eat sweet deserts or salty snacks for the rest of your life” will take the group in a different direction than “would you rather be extremely beautiful or extremely smart.” Remind people that there is no “right” answer and that neither option is inherently better than the other. Point back to the covenant as needed.
Write get-to-know-you options on notecards. Read a card aloud and ask it of the group, one player answering at a time and saying why they made that choice. People can pass or pass for now.
Variation: Take turns choosing a notecard or making up a question and everyone who wants to can answer.
Variation: Each person selects a different card or question to answer individually. People can pass or choose again if they don’t like the card.
