The Queer Beatitudes
Blessed are the fabulous,
for they remind the world that life is meant to be lived in color.
Blessed are the brokenhearted,
for they will find chosen family to hold them together.
Blessed are the drag queens, the leather daddies, the femmes, the butches, the bears, the twinks, and all beyond and between,
for they show us the endless creativity of love.
Blessed are those who have been told they are “too much,”
for they will discover they are exactly enough.
Blessed are the lovers who kiss on sidewalks,
for they make the streets holy ground.
Blessed are the ones who glitter, who dance, who vogue, who sing off-key in karaoke bars,
for theirs is the kingdom of joy.
Blessed are the elders who paved the way,
for we follow in the freedom of their work.
Blessed are the young ones still figuring it out,
for the world is wide enough for all their becoming.
Blessed are we, the whole queer family,
for love is our birthright, and joy is our inheritance.
