Can' t update to UUA Services Plugin from 1.0.3 in new installation

Hi. I am in the process of setting up a new site. I just purchased the UUA theme and am running through the setup steps. Got to activating the required plugins and I'm told the the UUA Service Plugin needs to be updated from 1.0.3. When I try to do that, it tells me that it has been done successfully, but it is still at 1.0.3 and still tells me that it needs to be updated.

Can someone help??

Hi– thanks for using the UUA Theme!

If you just purchased the UUA Theme, you should already have the latest versions which you don't need to update. As of writing this, you should have received the theme version 1.2.2 and UUA Services version 1.1.0.

What version of the theme are you currently using?

Make sure you're using the latest version of the theme first. Then try updating the UUA Services plugin.

Also, since you're working on setting up a new site – you should be aware of a new theme version coming soon which will transition away from some outdated recommended plugins.

Specifically, switching these plugins:

  • WooTheme's Testimonials plugin → Jetpack Testimonials content type.
  • CPT Bootstrap Carousel plugin → MetaSlider plugin (used for the homepage carousel).

If you can, try not to use those two plugins or start using the new one(s) that will be recommended in the next version of the theme.

I ended up getting the correct UUA services plugin updated, but the problem was I couldn't update it through Wordpress. It would tell me it was outdated, then I'd update it, and it wouldn't actually update. I had to go find version 1.1.0 and update it manually. Not sure what the problem was there or if others have seen this issue.

Hi– the MetaSlider plugin is different from the CPT Bootstrap Carousel plugin, but it shouldn't be difficult to switch to the new plugin once the next theme version is released.

Also, the CPT Bootstrap Carousel plugin will continue to be supported by the theme in this next release– so, it shouldn't be an immediate concern for you if you're already using the CPT Bootstrap Carousel. In fact, waiting until the next release is probably for the best so you can take advantage of the built theme styles to handle it's appearance.

I'm glad you were able to resolve your issue with updating the services plugin. Make sure you're using the latest version of the theme because we applied a fix to the theme in version 1.2.2 which addressed this very issue of not being able to update the Services plugin through WordPress.
