Themes: Clarifying shared values, collaborating on priorities, and being playful. Shared purpose, clarity of values, sense of deeper motivations.

Participants: any number, in person or online.

Materials: Newsprint, markers or dot stickers. For online version: a virtual whiteboard with stickers and marker features.

Invite the group to answer “Why are we here together?” and record on newsprint or using the whiteboard feature. Silly, profound, simple, sarcastic, and serious responses are all encouraged. Then give each participant 3 votes using the dot stickers or markers (or the sticker or marker tool online), to use on all on 1 item or spread out. Tally votes and write the top 3 as: “We’re here to… and… and…” or “We exist to…and…and…”. Allow silent reflection. Then channel your inner preschooler: Read the sentence aloud and ask, “But why?” Record response, then ask “But why?” again, 5 times total. After the 5th response, discuss whether it reflects the group’s real reason for gathering. Invite changes, if needed.
