Xiaopan (Jenny) Ye

Full name: Jenny Ye

Xiaopan (Jenny) Ye is a program and research intern on Racial Justice at the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office in the summer of 2018. A rising senior at Mount Holyoke College, she double majors in History and English, and focuses on modern European and African-American history. She is also doing a nexus minor in Law, Public Policy, and Human Rights.

By taking a historical approach to explicating the origins of racism in the United States, this blog post explores the legacy of slavery and white supremacy in contemporary society. The key to bring more justice to African Americans is to disrupt the narrative of racial difference at a national and international level. Ultimately, confronting and reconciling with its own history of human rights violations would challenge the country to embrace a more courageous identity.
