Feelings and Weather

Part of Deeper Joy

Themes: Noticing how one’s environment shapes mood and practicing practical self-care.

Participants: Any number, in person or online.

As a group, come up with a list of environmental factors that affect people’s feelings and moods in everyday spaces; examples can include weather, colors, temperature, smells, time, lighting, noise, and events. Ask how the group could change the environments they live, learn, or work in to ensure more positive feelings; you can start with the youth group room. Then think of things that affect mood that are not in our control, such as other people’s behavior or the news. Finally, name ways to care for ourselves and choices we can make when we are not in charge of our surroundings.
