Building Our Toolkit Together

Do you need some time as a leadership team to deepen connections, orient new leaders, and plan for the year ahead? Would you rather not have to build it yourself? Could you use some tools for leading in these challenging and unpredictable times?

Sounds like some Joint Board Retreats are in order!

As the 2024-2025 congregational year begins, we invite you to gather the leaders of your congregation with the leaders of your neighboring congregations. Instead of retreating separately, let’s retreat together. We are offering five in-person retreats this year, as well as a two-part online retreat.

Participating teams will…

  • Learn tools and techniques for leadership in challenging and unpredictable times
  • Build or deepen connections on your team and orient new leaders
  • Form or renew connections with leaders from neighboring congregations
  • Set intentions/goals for the year ahead

In-Person Dates, Times, and Locations

  • Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 10am-3pm ET at First Parish in Kingston, MA; 223 Main St, Kingston, MA 02364 (directions). The registration deadline is Saturday, August 31st or at maximum capacity.
  • Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10am-3pm ET at UU Congregation of the Upper Valley in Norwich, VT; 320 US-5, Norwich, VT 05055 (directions). The registration deadline is Saturday, September 7th or at maximum capacity.
  • Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10am-3pm ET at UU Society: East in Manchester, CT; 153 W Vernon St West, Manchester, CT 06042 (directions). The registration deadline is Saturday, September 7th or at maximum capacity.
  • Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10am-3pm ET at First Parish in Bedford, MA; 75 Great Rd, Bedford, MA 01730 (directions). The registration deadline is Saturday, September 7th or at maximum capacity.
  • Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 10am-3pm ET at UU Community Church, Augusta, ME; 69 Winthrop St, Augusta, ME 04330 (directions). The registration deadline is Saturday, September 14th or at maximum capacity.

Pre-Work and More Information

Pre-work (Google doc) is available. Please come prepared - both to share and to learn.

Registration fee: Registration is available on a sliding scale. Those who are able to pay at the highest level are making a donation to help those in financial need for this event. Please remember that for a sliding scale to work, we need the same number of people with means to generously contribute to balance the needs of others in the community. The sliding scale for in-person attendance is available at three tiers, no questions asked: $60-$50-$40 for in-person and $25-$20-$15 for online. Your registration fee includes a light breakfast and a full lunch for our in-person retreats.

General Cancellation Policy:

1. All cancellation requests for any paid congregational life event or training (i.e. OWL or Renaissance module) must be submitted in writing using this refund request form.

Refunds: 

2. Refund requests made before the event registration deadline will be eligible for a refund, minus a $5 administrative fee. 
3. Refund requests made after the registration deadline, but before the event date will be eligible for a 50% refund of the registration fee. 
4. For refund requests made within one week of the event due to illness or emergencies, full refunds will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. 
5. Refunds will not be provided after the event for no-shows. Note, if you registered for an event only to receive the event recording and resources you will still receive all these resources. 
6. There is no penalty for finding someone to replace you if you cannot attend. Please inform the program staff of the replacement attendee's details.
