MidAmerica Region History and Heritage Committee Renowned UU Ministers Course

MidAmerica Region History and Heritage Committee - Renowned UU Ministers

Who are these people?

Renowned UU Ministers is an eight-session course about clergy who were especially important in our tradition. Positives reported from this free course: participants, especially new members, identify more strongly with our denomination and their own congregations and better understand Sunday talks that mention these ministers.

How it Works

Unlike a book club, only the presenter needs to read the book (a biography we provide). A half-hour presentation on a minister is followed by discussion. Also, one can participate without being a presenter. Your congregation has complete flexibility in choosing ministers (instead of our default selections) and in adjusting the format. We include a session on Missed Opportunities—Black Trailblazers in UUism.

How to Get Started

  1. Gauge interest in your congregation.
  2. Reserve meeting time and space.
  3. Contact Frank Potter, Series Coordinator, bewhouchoose@gmail.com, UU Fellowship, Dubuque, Iowa.
  4. Spread the word to fill the class!
