Alerts from the Commission on Social Witness, General Assembly 2019

The Mission of the Commission on Social Witness (CSW) is to discern and craft a vision for the Association on pressing social issues as a reflection of the values of our faith and the voices from our congregations.

Towards this end, the CSW helps congregations through the social witness process through which our social witness statements are crafted.

During General Assembly (GA), the CSW provides daily updates to voting delegates about the status of pending social witness statements via their CSW Alerts.

Actions of Immediate Witness (AIWs)

The Commission on Social Witness screens proposed Actions of Immediate Witness according to the criteria of grounding, fit, and opportunity as well as significance, immediacy and specificity (see Bylaw Section 4.16). Preference is given to proposed Actions of Immediate Witness that emerge from a documented group process.
