Holy Reconciler, help us make peace with each other.

May we remember to slow down when we find ourselves having difficult conversations.

May we be active participants in the liberatory potential of democracy.

We must choose each other again and again, though conflict and through plenty.

Do we who are UUs really believe in the values of our faith enough to enact to them in bold, clear, and unequivocal ways?

May I have the wisdom to be curious when I find myself grumbling about “them.”

Holding people accountable for the impact of their behavior is not revenge; it’s what makes change and growth possible, and no real healing in community can come without it.

Over the years, I’ve built up an impressive array of tools for meetings: I-statements, being assertive, and all of that stuff. What I could improve on, though, is knowing when to switch tools.
