Hospitality for Guest Preachers
These Best Practices (PDF) were assembled in 2017 (and have been updated regularly) to provide clarity about the mutual expectations that Unitarian Universalist clergy and congregations bring to guest preaching experiences.
These practices reflect the importance of being in right relationship with guests, including professional religious leaders. Our relational ethics are one way we live out our Unitarian Universalist values with one another.
In the past, these respective responsibilities have not always been outlined clearly, leading to assumptions that create confusion or even conflict. This document reflects the collective experience of UU clergy in different ministerial settings, and the wisdom encapsulated by the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association (UUMA) Code of Professional Practice.
