Disposal of Church Archives after Dissolution
Part of Congregational Life Cycles
Part of your congregation’s legacy is its history, and much of your church history is expressed in your church’s archives. When your congregation dissolves, your history can still live on.
Your congregation’s archives may be of historical interest, such that a larger collection might appreciate them as a donation. Here are some options:
- Your local historical society
- Your local college or university archives
- Contact Meadville Lombard Theological School Archives and Special Collections.
- Please note: Harvard Divinity School Library Special Collections—which has a significant archive of UU materials—is pausing archival transfers until January, 2027 at the earliest.
