Join A Wave Cohort Practices for Collective Discernment

Webinar Announcement

Your UUA has been stewarding Wave Cohorts over the past year, bringing together UUs to build shared analysis, align strategy and action, and create synergy across our ecosystem. Whether Waves gather to focus on Queer and Trans Communities in Crisis, Congregational Administration, Whole Church Religious Education, or other topic areas, all Waves ask: What do our shared values call us to do in response to this moment?

Join us on Tuesday, April 21 at 8pm ET/5pm PT to learn from some past Wave facilitators and gain insight into their collective discernment. UUA senior leadership will also share how these learnings are driving the strategy and focus of our Association.

Wave Cohorts

Wave Cohorts are intentional learning, discernment, and experimentation groups organized around key areas of UU life and ministry. They bring together leaders, congregants, and professionals across the movement to:

  • Build shared analysis,
  • Learn together,
  • Align strategy and action,
  • Avoid “reinventing the wheel,” and
  • Create synergy across our UU ecosystem.

To align and amplify our energy across the UU ecosystem, we need to create containers that bring the right people into conversation and practice about the right topics in the right way at the right time. Wave Cohorts are simply that: groups of people who are working on the same “issue” to develop a shared analysis and understanding that, in turn, leads to taking strategic action together.

Some cohorts are focused on specific identities (e.g., youth, queer & trans folks, parents, emerging adults). Others are thematic, exploring practices or institutional changes that cut across identities. Participants can choose a cohort based on their interests and experiences. Some Wave Cohort rooms may organize their small group breakouts by identity/affinity groups.
