Safety Training for Leaders
Part of Becoming a Safer Congregation
MinistrySafe provides a complete Child Safety System designed to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. The organization was founded by civil trial attorneys with more than 60 years combined experience addressing child sexual abuse issues.
In addition to the training required to successfully fulfill their duties as staff or volunteers, all staff and volunteers who work with children, youth, disabled persons, elders, and other vulnerable adults should receive training on signs of sex abuse, sex abuse prevention, and reporting procedures, including mandated reporting requirements in your state. They should also be trained on the congregation’s safety policies and procedures. Congregations should maintain documentation showing who participated and when. There are a number of free or low-cost training opportunities available online and within many local communities. You may also check your state, as some now require that their specific training for this be provided.
