Ask — What differences did you notice between the two stories? What similarities? What would it be like to build a town where the rules and laws are all about UU values?

Affirmation Covenant Acitivty: “In This House”
Have students cut out their individual houses and arrange them on one poster to make a town. Find a way to put Love at the center of the town. Use the printout or draw a simple outline of a house on a paper or whiteboard. Encourage students to name affirmations that reflect actionable ways to embody the classroom covenant or agreement. (Ex.I am loving! I am kind! My vote matters! etc.)
Optional: Upload a photo of your group’s town to social media and use the hashtag #UUAMosaicYouth
Close
“Shine” by Doggyland (YouTube)
Play the song then ask students to check-out by naming one way they shine and one way a classmate shines. (Alternatively, the instructor can name one way each student shines.) Extinguish chalice.
Take Home
Send students with an extra copy of the “In This House” activity to complete with their family (or send the handout via email.)
