Parent Well-Being
Part of Thriving in Religious Education
The US Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, recently released an advisory report called “Parents Under Pressure” where he says that the stresses of parenting children the way it is currently structured in US society is such a heavy lift that it has become a health concern for parents.
We believe UU congregations can play a role in easing the burden on today’s parents and caregivers.
In this webinar, Rev. Erica Baron, Congregational Life Staff in New England Region and Jennica Davis-Hockett, Youth and Emerging Adult Ministry Staff in Lifespan Faith Engagement, explored the context of American parenting and how UU congregations can help.
This video particularly centers the experience of parents. We also have an analysis of the economic and social factors underlying this stress.
