Links to speakers broken Services
Hello-
On one site for which I consult, selecting links to speakers in Service, Upcoming Services and Past Services results in a Page Not Found error. This is not a problem on my other two sites.
Looking at the links, I notice strange extra characters:
https://wp.uusanmateo.org/’/speaker/jane-gehrke-worship-associate
Where does the ’/ come from?
Getting rid of this spurious bit will not solve my problem, alas. Testing the URL with it deleted gets the same result.
Thanks for any ideas, pointers—
Jim

I was seeing a question mark instead of the ’ tick mark. I never received a page not found error…. although the link originally went to the home page.
While I was clicking around, the perma links appeared to fix themselves — I was going to suggest you check those settings.
If you can figure out what conditions lead to the inclusion of the ’ mark, re-post with details.

Thanks, Earl. Yes, I found the spurious ‘/ in the “custom permalink” setting. Eliminating it fixed the problem, though I’m now on the lookout for what other permalinks this might have negatively affected.
I have no idea how this got there, though I can only think it had something to do with theme or WordPress upgrades. On another of my sites, sometime within the last month or so, spurious characters (../) also mysteriously appeared in the three links in the UUA Featured Upcoming Service widget, breaking those links.
