Side with Love
Unitarian Universalists affirm unconditional, universal love as a foundation and grounding for our actions in the world. We strive to be of service to our communities and advocate for change on local, state, national, and international levels.
Through our Side with Love campaign (formerly “Standing on the Side of Love”) we amplify the voices of the oppressed through online media; we show up in partnership at justice events across the country; we lobby national leaders on immigration reform, racial justice, equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people, religious freedom, and more; and above all we work to make love real in the world.
Over eighty percent of Unitarian Universalist congregations, and many more individual UUs and others who care about justice, have become a part of Side with Love.
Mahatma Gandhi did it. Mother Theresa did it. Martin Luther King, Jr., did it.
We do it. How do you reach out in love?

Our Unitarian Universalist principles ground us: justice, equity, compassion, and the interconnected web of all existence. These aren’t abstract ideals- they’re the compass by which we navigate uncertain terrain. When we center solidarity with marginalized communities and commit to political

Last night we gathered to hear three very different stories of local organizing in solidarity with immigrants from Maine, Chicago, and Oakland. Songs for Liberation from Chicago nourished our spirits, reminding us with Woody Guthrie’s song “All you fascists bound to lose,” renewed lyrics with…

Building community that nourishes relationships is core to our UU faith and must be central to our justice work. When we share food, play together, and prioritize time to get to know each other in our committees, congregations, and communities, we live into our interdependence and make our

As we enter February and pass the halfway point of 30 Days of Love, we find ourselves navigating a moment that is both heavy and full of courage. ICE escalations across the country — and the trauma communities are carrying in places like Minneapolis — remind us how urgently our faith is needed.

Unitarian Universalist congregations have a critical role in resisting violence and protecting our communities, and UUs have a long history of showing up to resist authoritarianism, xenophobia, racism, transphobia, and other attacks on communities.Meaningful, effective response requires us to eng…

A union with the collective … is at the heart of mobilizing: we go outside together, understanding very little can be changed alone, but together we can transform much more than we could imagine. Even now. Perhaps especially now: as we see a return and draw to the analog of life, and life itself:…
