Pandemic Strategies (Including COVID-19)

Strategies for Gathering Safely in an Ongoing Pandemic

None of these strategies are meant to stand alone. Combined they offer layers of precaution that increase safety and inclusion for all members of a community.

None of these strategies are meant to pressure congregations to return to in person congregational life especially if the local area is experiencing a surge, the area has a lot of unvaccinated people, and hospitals are filling up, or there are particular health or space concerns that making gathering in person too risky. Further, implementing these inclusive and protective strategies can be labor and resource intensive. Not every congregation has the space, staffing, volunteers, or energy to do these. For any of these reasons, continuing online, particularly through a surge, is a decision the UUA supports.
