"Home" widgets not showing up

I recently did a fresh install of WordPress (v6.0.1, PHP v7.4), the UUA Congregation theme (v1.3.3), and the recommended plugins* on a domain name that Hope purchased a few years ago but hasn't been used for anything (https://www.hopeunitarian.church/).

I can't get any of the "Home" widget areas to show up in the Customizer. The only widgets listed there are Primary, Secondary, Footer 1, Footer 2, and Footer 3. I'm using the Footer 1/2/3 widgets and those work fine. I'd also like to use at least the Home 3/4/5 widget areas, if I can ever get them to show up! I've tried adding various widgets (UUA Feature Box, images, text, etc.) to those areas using Appearance > Widgets, but they still don't show up in the Customizer.

I tried temporarily disabling all plugins except UpdraftPlus, but that didn't help. I've tried clearing the cache in my usual browser (Chrome), and I've tried using a different browser (Edge); neither helped. I'm logging in as an administrator and I don't have any ad/pop-up blockers installed.

What am I missing?

* The Classic Widgets, Custom Sidebars, Events Manager, List Category Posts, MetaSlider, SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle, and UUA Services plugins are all active and up to date. I've also installed UpdraftPlus for backups. Jetpack is active but not configured/connected to our WordPress account. The Staffer and Yoast SEO plugs are installed but deactivated.
