Credentialing Requirements - Overview

Skilled Level

(Geared towards very part-time religious educators)

Readiness

Serving in a professional Religious Education position (generally at least 6 months)

Religious Educator Experience Upon Completion of Level

At least 2 years at quarter time or more

Number of Competencies to be Demonstrated

4 Required, plus 1 Elective

Lens

Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, and Multiculturalism (ARAOMC) in 4 required competencies

Learning Experiences

At least 5 Learning Experiences:

  • 4 Sparks modules (or other pre-approved trainings); and
  • The Multicultural Religious Education module, the Leading UU Culture Change module, a Beloved Conversations Training, or another anti-racism, anti-oppression, multiculturalism training with prior approval from the Professional Development Program Manager (online or in-person is permitted)

Mentoring

Meetings with mentors approximately 10 times a year.

Complete the twice-annual Mentor/Candidate Status Check forms.

Advanced Level

(Geared towards career religious educators)

Readiness

Serving in a professional Religious Education position (generally at least 6 months)

Religious Educator Experience Upon Completion of Level

At least 2 years at half time or more, or 4 years at quarter-time

8 Required, plus 1 Elective

Lens

Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression and Multiculturalism (ARAOMC) in at least 5 competencies

Learning Experiences

At least 6 Learning Experiences:

  • 5 Sparks modules (or other pre-approved trainings); and
