Get Involved and Lead at GA

By Jeremie Bateman

Looking for ways to get involved? A number of areas are looking for volunteers. Also, there's a plethora of ways to participate if you're serving as a Congregational Delegate. Assembly Volunteers "Let's Talk" is an hour of GA dedicated to talking – and listening to others talk – about our UU faith. Small groups of GA participants will be led through a process of "mutual invitation" by a facilitator. Needed: Facilitators and planners. Interested parties should contact Jessica York at jyork@uua.org. Facilitators must attend a 30-minute training session right before Let's Talk and must be available Thursday from 5-6:30. Previous facilitation experience helpful, but not required. Planners should be available for 1-2 calls prior to General Assembly. Waterfire needs volunteers! Whether you volunteer for 30 minutes or 5 hours, be part of making this witness event. Volunteers are needed for everything from set-up to singing in the choir! Check out the options and sign-up online. Youth Caucus Volunteers Interested in leading a small group? As our programming is finalized, we may be looking for youth to step up as facilitators for small group conversations during workshops. Email youthcaucus@uua.org with the subject line Group Facilitator Our workshop on Spiritual Practices needs some people to manage different stations around the room. We have a prayer beads station, a hand-washing station, a yoga station, a guided meditation station and more. If you're interested in helping support this workshop, email youthcaucus@uua.org with the subject line Spiritual Practices. Note if you are interested in a particular station. Are you bridging this year? We need a few bridgers to come to the Synergy Worship rehearsal at 10:15am on Thursday to be able to lead the rest of the bridgers during the service that evening. Email youthcaucus@uua.org with the subject line Bridging Rehearsal. Delegates Congregations send delegates to General Assembly and often youth are among them. If you are a delegate from your congregation there are a number of ways to participate in the business of General Assembly. First, be sure to take a look at the agenda and think about attending mini-assemblies in addition to General Sessions. Then, stop by Youth Caucus FUN TIMES on Thursday at 12:30pm to learn more about some of the business. Often, youth will choose to speak before the entire Assembly on a particular issue. FUN TIMES Managers are available to help you craft your statements or answer questions about business during Friday's Strategy Session at 12:30. Finally, on Saturday at 10:15am, there will be another FUN TIMES session dealing with the remaining business on the agenda. Take me back to the main page
