Leadership at General Assembly
If you want to, there are lots of ways to lead at General Assembly — both small and large.
Be a Youth Community Guide
Four youth (14-18 years old) and two adults (25+ years old) serve as Guides for the UU youth community onsite in our host city. Youth Guides co-create programming, worship, and activities in the youth space that are grounded in Unitarian Universalism and the needs of youth attendees. Adult Guides use shared leadership with healthy boundaries and a commitment to safety to support the youth guides. This is a great opportunity to deepen your connection with UU youth and to further develop your relationship building, group facilitation, and collaboration skills.
Be an Emerging Adult Community Guide
Four emerging adults (18-24 years old) serve as Guides for the UU GA EA Community two onsite in our host city, two virtual. EA Guides co-create programming, worship, and activities in the EA space that are grounded in Unitarian Universalism and the needs of EA attendees. This is a great opportunity to deepen your connection with UU EAs and to further develop your relationship building, group facilitation, and collaboration skills.
Be a Delegate
Serving as a delegate gives youth a chance to participate in the democratic process and help shape the face of Unitarian Universalism. By sending youth as delegates, congregations send a powerful message that youth are a vital and important part of Unitarian Universalism. Sometimes congregations will cover some or all of your costs to attend.
Delegates discuss and vote on the business of our association during general sessions. You can be an onsite or virtual delegate.
Volunteer
There are lots of ways to volunteer onsite and virtually for GA. You would receive free registration in exchange for about 20 hours of service.
