Tips for Sharing Your Congregational Story

  • Who was involved in the initiative? Who were your thought partners?
  • What was the initiative? Describe it in enough detail that others can try it.
  • When did you implement it? How long did each step take?
  • Where were the impacts in the congregation? What changed? What stayed the same?
  • How did you implement it? What were the steps and what happened at each stage?
  • Please share photographs! A picture is worth a thousand words!

We know that congregations learn best from one another! Along with opportunities to connect at General Assembly and regional trainings, sharing stories is another great way to learn from one another. This Congregational Interconnections series is the latest in a tradition of the UUA facilitating the sharing of stories. Here are a couple of previous programs that inspired this series:

InterConnections

Published quarterly from 1998 through 2014, InterConnections was mailed free to congregational board members. In it, editor Don Skinner shared tips and stories gleaned from the email listservs where congregational leaders shared their challenges and ideas.

Breakthrough Congregations

The Breakthrough Congregation program, started in 2004 retired in 2019, highlighted congregational stories of innovation and growth
