Background: International Unitarian/Universalist Collaboration

Below is a record of the journey and process involved in reorganizing the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists (ICUU) and the Unitarian Universalist Partner Church Council (UUPCC) to form a new organization with a mission to carry forward the shared values of international collaboration and mutual faithful engagement. Leaders from each organization met with the UUA's International Office throughout 2020 - 2021 in an "International U/U Collaboration Group" to coordinate this process.

A New Vision

In September 2020, the International U/U Collaboration Group shared A New Vision Report (pdf), proposing "the establishment of a single organisation that would more effectively take forward the shared values of ICUU and UUPCC in its work."

On January 19, 2021, a UUPCC membership meeting was held via Zoom and with a quorum in attendance, this question was put forth for a vote: "Do you approve the proposed direction from the September “A New Vision” report, which recommends the UUPCC and the ICUU combine the two into a new entity?" The vote was overwhelmingly YES to support the direction of the ongoing discussions of the committee.
