Early Deadlines for the Settled Ministerial Search

Part of The Settled Ministry Search Handbook

A silver stopwatch with the word "deadline" on the face in red ink.

The work of search begins in May with some critical deadlines: registering with the UUA settled search support system, the settled search overview webinar, and scheduling the search team retreat.

Settled Ministry Support Fee

The board president should formally let the UUA Transitions Team know that their congregation will be in settled search in the coming search cycle by completing the request for UUA settled search coaching.

The deadline is June 1st.

Settled ministry search support fee: $1,000 — $3,500. The amount is determined by the congregation’s level of support of the UUA’s Annual Program Fund (APF)

  • Standard cost of search support: $3500
  • Discounted support cost for congregations which have contributed 85% or greater of the APF Honor amount over the last three years: $2000
  • APF Honor discounted support cost for congregations which have contributed 100% of the APF Honor amount over the last three years: $1000

Search Team Tasks

All search team members (and interested board members) should subscribe to the Ministerial Transitions Newsletter.

Retreat Scheduling

The search team should determine which weekends everyone on the team could be available for a retreat. They should provide the team’s availability for search retreat programming to the Congregational Transitions Director transitions@uua.org as early as possible (in May or June).

Retreats should be held no later than the first week of September to give the search team time to do its work in the Fall.

Settled Search Process Overview Webinar

The UUA Transitions Team leads an overview of the settled search process on the second or third Saturday in June each year on Zoom.

Board members and search team members are welcome to participate in this optional overview.

A link to a registration form will be included in the May Ministerial Transitions Newsletter.
