Program proposals for GA 2014 should engage with one or more facets of how we can more effective and better share our message of love.

Hello fellow UU Campus Ministry Leaders,

We are putting together an application to do a workshop at GA 2014. We are still working on the title and looking for presenters – story contributors – and references

The Title will be something like the following:

Extending Congregational Small Group Ministry to “Mind The Gap”
or
Congregational Small Group Ministry Reaching Out to Campus, Café’s & Beyond

Givens:
- UU ministry for bridgers is scant (resource constrained)
- Most sustained UU Campus Ministries include modified SGM lead by paid staff.
- Small Group Ministry (SGM) is strong in our congregations

What can a congregation with a small group ministry do to address the “other side of the bridge?”

- Create SGM on campuses and other locations (Cafés, Taverns, etc.) that are attractive to young adults. Meet consistently.
- Use current congregational SGM facilitator training and support infrastructure
- Offer free food
- Provide a SGM structured opportunity for Deep Listening
- Encourage “drop-in” attendance
- Provide access to Pastoral Care
- Include occational social action, service and fun activities

Let us know ASAP if you would like to join this effort.

PS. Sorry for the late request… please respond quickly… the application is due 11-1-2013.
