The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Morgan McLean as Director of Global Connections. In this position, she will oversee the UUA’s international programs and relationships with global Unitarian, Universalist and free church partners, as well as the Holdeen India Program. Rev. McLean has been Acting Director since previous Director Rev. Alicia Forde left the position in the fall of 2024.

“We are so excited to welcome Rev. McLean into this ongoing role, after her excellent service as Acting Director,” said UUA President Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt. “It is more important than ever to reimagine our worldwide U/U connections with love and equity at the center, and to strengthen our shared global faith, in a time of rising climate crisis and authoritarianism.”

Rev. McLean joined the UUA staff in 2021, and was previously the Global Connections Program Manager. She has worked closely with the international Leadership and Design Team to support the emerging U/U Global Network, and was a member of the planning team for the 2023 global U/U Convening in Prague, Czech Republic.

A lifelong UU, Rev. McLean served congregations in Devon, PA and Davis, CA after receiving an M.Div. degree from Andover Newton Theological School. Morgan earned her undergraduate degree in International Affairs from Wagner College, spent several years on staff at Amnesty International, and was a volunteer leader with the former UU Partner Church Council.

“It is an honor to carry forward our long legacy of engagement with the wider world,” said McLean. “As Director of the Global Connections Office, I’m looking forward to exploring opportunities for collaboration and celebrating our global faith in new ways.”

Rev. McLean lives with her family in the Washington, D.C. area.
