Kaiyote (they/them) is a Black, nonbinary, West Indian islander from the Kalinago tribe. Their writing is inspired by black trans resistance and love. Kaiyote is a lifelong Massachusetts resident with deep ties to the community. They are a poet and musician performing often at local open mics. Kaiyote joined their local UU church in 2024. “I thought my faith died, but it didn’t, it changed, it had to change because I changed. This affirmation is evidence of that.”
