Jeff Milchen works with our Organizing Strategy Team and Communications department, reporting for UU World’s magazine and website, SideWith Love.org, and other UU outlets. He focuses on voting rights and democracy, racial justice, climate justice, and LGBT+ rights, while also developing tools to facilitate citizen action. Jeff has also written for The Washington Post, Governing, The Ecologist, American Prospect, and many other publications.

Jeff is a lifelong advocate for both political and economic democracy. After graduating from the University of Vermont, Jeff spent several years as a small business owner and experiential educator (with Outward Bound and other wilderness programs). He later started multiple nonprofits, including Reclaim Democracy! and the American Independent Business Alliance, nonprofit organization. He writes from Colchester, Vermont.
