Intro to the Cliffs of Exclusivity
Beware but don’t fear theCliffs of Exclusivity found in the top-right corner of the map. There are two sides to exclusivity. On the one hand we want to watch out for the jagged borders that actively or inadvertently keep others out instead of drawing the circle wider. On the other hand, we must have what Priya Parker calls “generous exclusion,” where the “guest list” (if you will) is exclusive and based on the purpose, principles or values of the gathering or community. Facilitators can use activities that help us pay close attention to inclusion and accessibility while maintaining the parameters and boundaries of our purpose.
