The Quickest Covenant in the World
Part of Deeper Joy
Themes: Naming transcendent qualities, honoring legacy, and working together as a group.
Works well for fast-paced settings, the start of a gathering, or moments when energy is high and time is short.
Materials: Newsprint, markers.
For each question, allow for reflection then have popcorn style sharing; capture on newsprint.
1) Ultimacy: words naming what is greater than the group in which our values are rooted (transcendent, purpose, source).
2) Intimacy: words naming how participants will care for themselves and one another (care, consent, pacing, listening).
3) Legacy: words naming shared obligation to learn from ancestors and to gift descendants through this work (wisdom, repair, stewardship).
After the 3 rounds, read words aloud, ask for any must-adds or clarifications, and declare the set a provisional covenant the group can refine later if needed.
