Interim Minister Guide
Part of A Guide to Transitional Ministry
In the InterimStrategies for Interim Ministers and Congregations, Second Edition
By Keith Kron, Barbara Child
Now in its second edition, this practical and insightful volume provides a road map for a transformative and fulfilling interim period.
Interim ministry is a calling that is remarkedly different than settled ministry in that it is a time of transition and transformation.
Interim ministry is a collaboration between congregational leaders, staff, and the interim minister to help the congregation move forward toward a new future with a shared sense of mutuality. Interim ministers prepare to work with congregations in various stages of grief, readiness, and receptivity to this ministry to be successful at it.
Ministers considering interim ministry are encouraged to read the book In the Interim, and to reach out to colleagues currently engaged in interim ministry for more information and discernment.
Although the UUA’s Year-Long Transitional Ministry Training (YLTMT) (in partnership with the Interim Ministry Network) is not required to apply for interim ministry, it will be expected once a minister begins an interim ministry.
