A Covid-conscious Cleaner Air Event

Trainers: Eric Morrow & CB Beal

Please note these important points:

  • Age Minimums for live and online trainings: Participants must be at least 21 years of age to register for any training, and if working with teens, they should be at least four years older than the oldest teen in the program. We recommend co-facilitating with an older facilitator. This is a change from previous UUA policy, which set an age 25 minimum for the Elementary and Secondary trainings.
  • Training participants are responsible for purchasing and reviewing the most current edition of the curriculum in advance and reading through it before the training. Do not buy or borrow a first edition of the 7-9 or 4-6 curriculum. They are out of date in terms of language and learning concepts. Many congregations have this curriculum in their libraries; you should check with your congregation before purchasing. You will need your age-level curricula and Sexuality and Our Faith. Curricula can be purchased from the UUA Bookstore.

As UUs, we are committed to equity, justice, and liberation. This includes protecting those in our community who are most vulnerable, and creating event spaces that can be welcoming to a wide range of people based on their risk or health status.

Guidelines: The UUA is committed to promoting a safe environment for all members of our community and guests. Considering the ever-changing impact of the coronavirus variants, UUA Events shares the following guidelines:

  • This training is an intentionally Covid-cautious training.
  • All participants will test negative before attending, and wear high-quality, well-fitted N95/KN95/KF94 masks at all times in the training room.
  • CB will provide many varieties of respirator masks for participants to try different kinds for a better, more comfortable fit.
  • Other types: Surgical (baggy blue) masks are insufficient. If you have upgraded to an elastomeric respirator that fits you well, that’s great.

More information will be sent in the welcome letter from the trainers. This will contain other measures taken to enhance accessibility, clarification about where/when people can have mask breaks, and other accessibility enhancements we are attempting at this site.

We hope everyone will understand and embrace these guidelines in the spirit of the UUA’s values as a caring community.

Cost: $500

Our Whole Lives (OWL) is an excellent, comprehensive sexuality education program that offers our young people the opportunity to explore their values, gain accurate information about topics that are often not easily accessible. The overall goal of the Our Whole Lives program is to help participants gain the knowledge, values, and skills they need to lead sexually healthy, responsible lives. We are proud that our congregations recognize that for young people to grow into spiritually whole, mature individuals, we need to address the topic of sexuality. The material on Sexuality and Our Faith connects our religious beliefs with sexuality, spirituality, and issues of justice.

Our Whole Lives teacher training covers the curricula for the one of three age levels — elementary, secondary (junior/senior high), or adult (includes young adult, adult, and older adult). The goals of this workshop are to prepare the participants to implement the curriculum as well as the Sexuality and Our Faith component. Through a varied program including practice and participation activities, the trainers will cover implementation techniques, curricula details, and technical information.
