I have been a Unitarian Universalist my entire life and I can say without a doubt I would not be anywhere near the person I am today without it. Finding my home at PSWD’s Camp de Benneville Pines transformed my idea of what it means to be a part of this faith. The raw community that I entered into welcomed me with open arms and accepted me for who I was. I wanted no more than to return that to those who came after me. Being Youth Caucus Dean at GA for the past two years has allowed me to focus my passion for Unitarian Universalism towards creating opportunities for other youth and helping them key in on what their beliefs are. I believe we are a community of strong leaders fighting to make a difference and establish our place in the world. Youth are the future of this faith and deserve to be informed and have a voice. I would love to serve my time and energy as Youth Observer to be there with you to take action.

It’s remarkable how much Unitarian Universalist values and opportunities have shaped me into the person I am: someone with a sturdy moral compass to guide me through the “rodents of unusual sizes” and “dementors” of life. My appreciation stems from my transformation and instills deep within me a passion to actively be a leader in this community. My position in the Youth Staff at Midwest Leadership School and as Youth President of my church’s youth group gives me the experience to guide my success as Youth Observer. Additionally, my participation in Student Congress has provided me with the quick-thinking and persuasive skills required to emphasize UU Youth’s issues and entice effective and timely change. As your Youth Observer, I promise to create an active and closer global community by reaching out proactively through methods such as social media. This way, all UU youth can have their own ideas represented, and personally shape their own UU experience.
