Sacred Paths

Rivers and streams follow their own courses,
but the water molecules are indistinguishable.
No one would confuse a candle flame for lava,
yet in each the fire dances.
An invisible force both knocks down trees and holds birds aloft;
the air remains indifferent to its uses.
Diamond, desert, Denali, and dirt each tell their different stories,
all with the earth as protagonist.

Whatever our beliefs and practices
However we gather in community
We all honor the Spirit of Life
the Spirit of Compassion
the Spirit of Justice
the Spirit of Love
How many stars are in the sky?
All of them.
