At a moment when so many legislatures are debating hateful laws, Unitarian Universalism affirms what is true yesterday, today, and every day: Trans people are divine. There is no such thing as other people’s children. We join together in fighting for a world in which all of us are free and thriving.

The UUA responds to the most recent onslaught of oppressive laws and policies threatening the lives of trans and nonbinary+ children and the LGBTQIA+ community and continues to work for justice and the ability of all people to thrive.

While Unitarian Universalism honors diversity of genders and gender expressions, we know that transgender people experience harm in and beyond Unitarian Universalist spaces. These resources are available to ensure that transgender/non-binary people get the support and care they need.

Sharing my story helps others and me as well. It helps me heal from shame, re/connect with community, and with resources. Muslims, I believe must advance justice and equity, via deeds, words, even thoughts (e.g., challenging our own biases).

The barrage of anti-trans legislation that has been levied against the trans/non-binary community along with a culture of hate that is harming our children is directly responsible for these senseless killings and the dangers the transgender community faces on a daily basis.
