Mary Katherine Morn
Rev. Mary Katherine Morn was appointed President and CEO of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) in May 2018. She previously served as the Director of Stewardship and Development and Special Assistant to the President for the Unitarian Universalist Association.
Mary Katherine’s passion for fundraising arises from her belief that ministry is the work of unleashing the best we have to give—and though we sometimes forget it, unleashing financial giving is what makes much of the rest of the ministry possible. Previous to her denominational service, Mary Katherine served as senior minister of the UU Congregation of Fairfax, at Oakton, VA, and grew small, mid-size, and large congregations in five different states (Texas, Alabama, Washington, DC, Georgia, and Virginia).
For eight years, Morn served on panels for the UU Funding Program and has also held various positions within the UU Ministers Association, including vice president of the executive committee. She was the president of Senior Ministers of Large UU Congregations and the former co-chair of the UUA President’s Council. Mary Katherine’s husband, John Rakestraw, is Director of Center for Teaching Excellence at Boston College and their son Caleb is a senior at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.
