Jamila Batchelder (she/her) was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area by a a Jewish-raised Buddhist mother and and a Baptist-raised Muslim father. She knew she had found her religious home when she discovered Unitarian Universalism, and has been a UU for more than two decades. She now has served the Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbia (MO) as its Director of Religious Education since 2017.
