Dorothy Day
Dorothy Day was an activist who worked for such social causes as pacifism and women's suffrage through the prism of the Catholic Church. Known for protesting war, supporting labor strikes and living voluntarily in poverty as she cared for the needy, Day founded the Catholic Worker movement. She was a consistent voice not just for helping the poor on an individual level, but for the structural economic reforms that she believed were necessary to create a fairer system.
