There’s still time to support the Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbia, Missouri, recipient of our Fall Chalice Lighters Call, as they seek to live out their mission to be radically welcoming to all by installing two automatic doors. The doors will make the congregation’s current space more accessible to individuals with disabilities, and is part of a larger project in which the congregation will be adding an elevator and making other accessibility improvements. Chalice Lighters is also supporting the Faithify campaign of the Birmingham Unitarian Church in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Flood damage due to historic rapid rainfall in the Detroit metro area this summer affected the entirety of BUC’s lower level: 2400 square feet of classrooms plus kitchen, furnace and electrical room, and elevator. The congregation is $12,000 short of what they need to remediate, restore, and protect this space.
