Budrus is an award winning documentary about a Palestinian community organizer, Ayed Morrar, who unites local Fatah and Hamas members along with Israeli supporters in an unarmed movement to save his village of Budrus from destruction by Israel’s Separation Barrier.  It was recently reviewed in the New York Times Review of Books. The work of the organization that produced Budrus, Just Vision (www.justvision.org), is to engage audiences everywhere with Palestinians and Israelis working together in nonviolent ways for a peaceful equitable resolution of the conflict.  One of the amazing parts of the film is when Ayed’s 15-year-old daughter, Iltezam, launches a women’s contingent that quickly moves to the front lines. The impact of these women both on the men of Budrus and the Israeli soldiers is an important contribution to those interested in the role of women in conflict situations. Budrus will be opening in New York on October 8th, in Denver and Los Angeles on October 22nd, and in Washington, D.C. on October 29th followed by additional theaters around the country.  For cities and dates go to www.justvision.org. The Board Chair of JustVision is Hanan Watson, a member of All Souls Unitarian Church in NYC.  Many thanks to JustVision for creating this superb film.  If  you or your congregation would like  to organize an event around the film to discuss Middle East peace and/or the role of women in conflict, please contact Nadav Greenberg, Just Vision’s Outreach and Media Associate, at nadav@justvision.org Tel. 857-234-6728.
