Rejection of Senate Bill No. 1 1976 General Resolution

WHEREAS, Senate Bill #1, the Criminal Justice Reform Act of 1975, in attempting to reform the outdated US Criminal Code, has presented us with an unparalleled threat to individual liberties, especially in disregard of the First Amendment; and

WHEREAS, the bill is a massive, complicated measure so pervasively flawed it is inherently unamendable;

BE IT RESOLVED: That the 1976 General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association calls upon Congress to reject this legislation; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the member societies of the Unitarian Universalist Association and the members of the societies be urged to communicate their concern to Congress.
