We proclaim with Love on our side: Our bodies are sacred. Our minds are blessed. Our spirits are beloved.

We come from many places—along different paths, bringing different truths.

We pause on this night of mystery, to tell the stories, to sing the songs, and to bring more light into the world.

We light this chalice, here in the darkness of winter as we wait.

We light this chalice, so that by its light we may read ALL the books…

Holy flame of times past, brighten this present moment…

Illuminate our hearts and the spaces between them in this Sacred Time of unfolding.

What if sometimes it’s about sparking potential into possibility, and possibility into existence?

“Verily with hardship comes ease...” (Quran; 94:5-6)

This chalice is for the living, the changing, the becoming.

We gather this morning as one community

We shall all be free.

Speaking from the heart can turn an ordinary meeting into a rewarding one.

We kindle this flame (hold arms together in a chalice shape and wiggle fingers) to honor the heart of a Unitarian Universalist (hold hands together in a heart shape) Someone who shows strength (flex both arms in a strong motion) Someone who lends a helping hand (flip one hand, palm facing outward...

As we gather in this sacred moment, the Holy Spirit settles among her people.

We rekindle our connection to the sacred web of life.

We come together in one faith.

We face a challenge to democracy.

Our common work is the creation of Beloved Community.

We come together trusting that in gathering we will be renewed.

We gather to honor our covenant and engage in congregational life.

Can we find space for lifting our heads in wonder—that we’re still striving, still trying together

We gather here, around this flame; seeking, believing, and being, together.

This burning flame represented hope during the bleakness of World War II.

May our beacon of hope give you respite

May we tend our Soul Fire through these challenging and trying times

Our ancestors in faith acted with courage to bring hope and safety.

We are stronger together because we are different, and because we are one.

We tend the spark of imagination and hope for the world to come.

May this precious light shine on.

We light this chalice today as a people dedicated to personal growth.

Every creature is an embodiment of the Love of the Universe.

We light this chalice today to illuminate our way toward Love.

Help us to see that for the smallest, the humblest, the least of these burns the brightest star.

All are welcome from everywhere.

As we light this flame, we remember friends and loved ones near and far and we give thanks. As the fire burns brightly, we open our minds and hearts to new ways of being and we feel alive....
