General Assembly
General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), where participants gather to worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy decisions for the Association through a democratic process. While anyone can attend, congregations must certify annually to have voting delegates.
For General Assembly in 2026, we are creating a virtual “everywhere GA” with both online and distributed in-person options that will allow Unitarian Universalists to participate in whichever way works best for them. This new format will reduce travel costs and environmental impacts, offer optional in-person connections, streamline production costs, and provide a more flexible schedule for participants.
We know there is a deep need in this moment to build and sustain community as Unitarian Universalists. Given the strain that our congregations and individual UUs face in the current political climate, when travel brings increased risks and person-to-person connection remains important to our continued thriving, we are leaning into this creative approach.
To maintain safety, accessibility, and equity, the UUA is offering several ways to engage with the content and connections offered at this virtual GA, including fully virtual participation streaming live across many time zones.
By experimenting with smaller, more localized gatherings we can uphold the value of equity for GA participants around the country and production quality that supports the experience of online attendees. Truly, we can be together everywhere as we build the courage and capacity to Meet the Moment.
Propose a Program for the 2026 GA EduCenter
You are warmly invited to submit a program proposal for the 2026 UUA General Assembly EduCenter. Housed within the GA App, the EduCenter is the central platform for learning, reflection, and connection. It is accessible to all GA registrants whether they participate from a congregation, a community gathering, or at home. The EduCenter hosts pre-recorded and on-demand content, live interactive sessions, and opportunities for conversation and collaboration.
We are seeking creative and meaningful offerings that align with our theme, Meet the Moment: Together Everywhere. General Assembly Program Proposals are due Thursday, January 15.

Our Studio Site in Louisville, Kentucky, at the Galt House Hotel, will host participating Unitarian Universalists for worship, learning, and connection. The weekend features worship, learning, and community events including the Meet the Moment Overview and breakouts, Ware Lecture, Community Sing, and Sunday Worship, bringing our movement together in faith, spirit, and purpose.
Congregational Satellite Sites will host a local welcome, song, and chalice lighting, as well as livestream GA content, offer space for afternoon discussion groups, and host the Sunday Morning worship livestream.
In addition to the UUA-hosted sites, congregations are invited to host their own local gatherings where registered participants can experience GA together. These community gatherings offer opportunities for worship, discussion, and connection in a familiar setting while sharing in the same inspiring content as all other GA participants.
Each year, General Assembly is made possible by the contributions of hundreds of volunteers who do everything from moderating online discussions, to hanging banners in the convention center. GA Volunteers typically work 20 hours, including trainings. All GA volunteers, whether online or at the Studio Site, receive a full GA registration at no cost, which includes access to all online programming and the Whova event app.
Delegates use the GA Delegate Participation Platform for discussion and voting during General Sessions. You must have a delegate credential and be registered for GA to access the delegate platform.
Every effort will be made to provide you with accommodations or assistive equipment to enable or enhance your GA experience. Whether you’re attending in person or virtually, an Accessibility Services Coordinator will be available before and during GA to provide information and coordinate assistance to individuals with accessibility needs.
