If you think I’m up here to ask for money, think again.
I am here to announce an act of creation!
Creation does not take place where there is a scattering and dissipation of energies.
Creation requires a gathering together and focusing of your power within a circle of commitment—
Association Sunday increases our Unitarian Universalist (UU) connections so that we will become more effective in growing our faith and in helping to heal a wounded world. For the 3rd year we will this morning pool our resources to create more than we can do alone. The offering you give this morning will be directed to the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)—Now Is the Time (Write your check out to "UUA—Now Is the Time") for our collective purpose and presence in the world.
"What does that have to do with ME" you ask? In one year over $40,000 came back here directly to you.
Grants to congregations for educating lay leaders, including scholarships to pay your way. Training and technical resources to help congregations grow more effectively and visibly.
Gettysburg (UUG) is a 6-year-old 65-member congregation. Neighboring Trinity United Church of Christ (UCC) asked to be part of their Diversty training. That partnership led to the Adams Co YWCA asking the group to bring the training to the community. Those connections fueled a 14 agency collaborative which just applied for a 400,00 Kellogg Foundation grant for Racial Healing and Equity. This year UUG, Trinity UCC and the UUCY form an unprecedented partnership in Building the World We Dream About (BTWWDA).
BTWWDA, developed by UUA with funds from Association Sunday, is available to you FREE, on the web, as a Tapestry of Faith curriculum.
What will your congregation—your community look like when this fire spreads?
Consider wisely the ways in which you would use your power to draw the sacred circle of commitment.
Here is my own check for $100. Whatever you want for your own congregation in the world this year Double it... place that in the envelope as it comes your way. Pledge... we have time
In the commitment of /this/ circle, the power
of love builds like a storm... until suddenly the circle can hold no more
and explodes in the conception of the new. This fire is not about money.
This fire is more powerful than any one of you. "White Buffalo Calf Woman", by Ken Carey
