So that we may each know our role and purpose on youth caucus staff as part of something bigger than ourselves, we promise to practice and promote:

We create a community where we can expect respect, support, and forgiveness from one another. We acknowledge and honor the many identities each of us brings to this community. We make space for laughter and singing.

We care for each other by listening deeply, being kind and gentle with one another, supporting self care practices, checking in frequently, setting and meeting realistic expectations, and holding each other accountable with love. We are conscious that each of us has outside happenings and responsibilities.

We ensure open lines of communication by creating a community where we encourage people to speak up and give listening ear and be responsive. This is a safe space. We value bad news over no news.

We hold ourselves and each other accountable for keeping our commitments by seeking honesty about our own and others’ capability, asking for help and setting external reminders for ourselves.

When we fall short or make mistakes we remain open to feedback, own our mistakes, apologize, handle consequences with grace and offer repairs to community and self.
