U.S. Non-Intervention in Nicaragua 1983 General Resolution

WHEREAS, bills were introduced in the US Congress in March and April of 1983 to cut off funding for military and paramilitary operations directed against Nicaragua; and

WHEREAS, a groundswell of public support is needed for passage of such pending legislation and to forestall efforts to overthrow governments either by covert stratagem or by overt military action;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the 1983 General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association supports Congressional efforts to prohibit US support for military or paramilitary operations in Central America directed against Nicaragua and opposes any overt or covert attempts to overthrow the government in Nicaragua.
