Faithful Discernment: Is Your Congregation Called to Offer Sanctuary?
Wondering what your options might be for effective congregational action in this heightened time of hostility and violence and possible deportations? This video is a recording of one webinar in a series on Sanctuary & Solidarity, hosted by UUSC, UUA, UUCSJ, and UURISE. In this session, Katia Hansen, President and CEO of UU Refugee & Immigrant Services and Education (UURISE) presents what it means to become a Sanctuary congregation and what factors to consider in assessing whether your congregation is able to answer this call to solidarity with individuals affected by the escalating xenophobia and increased deportations threatened by the new administration. As becoming a Sanctuary congregation is one of the many ways to be in solidarity with those most at risk in this new political landscape, it also offers additional resources and ideas for taking action.

Love Resists Through Congregational Organizing
Unitarian Universalist congregations are developing some very comprehensive models for doing justice ministries well and this webinar is your opportunity to learn from their experience. Revs. Lisa Friedman and Rob Eller-Isaacs from Unity Church-Unitarian in St. Paul, MN will talk about the origins of their model, which links to partners in the community and keeps the work grounded in Unitarian Universalist faith. Love Resists Through Partnership: Building Relationships at the Grassroots
How does an individual congregation—and the interfaith community more broadly—approach new relationships with grassroots community organizations? How do we build trust, accountability, and a long-term commitment? What role is ours to play within a movement much larger than ourselves? The Minnesota UU Social Justice Alliance and their partners will share what they’ve learned developing a coalition called MARCH (Multifaith Anti-Racism, Change, and Healing) together, and discuss what kind of awareness and skills are essential to bring to community partnerships.
