The Basic Youth Advisor Training for adults (BAT) presents core issues, philosophies and skills needed to advise and empower youth. This training is designed for new advisors looking for the basics, as well as seasoned advisors looking for support from their peers & new ideas to bring back to their group. Topics covered include youth empowerment, community building, balanced programming, liability issues, involvement in the congregation, and more.

Who should attend the Basic Youth Advisor Training?
New and seasoned advisors who want to understand the basics of youth empowerment. It is a great networking and support possibility for advisors who have been doing youth ministry. Religious Educators and Ministers who want to increase their competency in youth ministry and support their advisors. Adults who are responsible for hiring/selecting youth advisors.

Program feedback has shown that having youth participants for some or all of the training has been tremendously beneficial to the experience of attendees. Some have hosted Saturday evening meal with a local youth group as part of the training.

The recommended ratio of youth to adults is 1:5.
